What Tenths does

Story ideas

A mileage app with no servers

The big mileage apps were built around their own servers, with an account that keeps a copy of everywhere you’ve driven. Tenths does the whole job on the iPhone, so there’s no account to sign up for and no copy on our side to leak.

The year the rate changed mid-year

The IRS raised the business rate from 72.5¢ to 76¢ a mile on July 1, 2026, so a 2026 log needs two rates. A spreadsheet with one rate gets the year wrong; Tenths gives each drive the rate for its date.

Forgot to track 2026?

Tenths can rebuild a year from a Google Maps Timeline export, calendar and photo locations, or Uber and Lyft trips, and marks every rebuilt drive as rebuilt. The rebuild guide covers what the IRS accepts.

Built by one person, from the reviews

Clayton read what people say about mileage apps: drives that never got recorded, prices that kept going up, and paying just to get their own records out. Tenths is his answer to each.

About the maker

Clayton Johnson builds Tenths on his own in the Orlando area. He started it after watching his girlfriend sort drives all day in a mileage app, and set out to fix what people complain about most.

“If your phone can do the work, your drives should be yours alone.”
