Why I built it

My girlfriend tracks her mileage with an app, and I’d watch her sorting drives all day. When I read what people say about these apps, the same complaints kept coming up: drives that never got recorded, prices that kept going up, and paying just to get your own records out. I wanted to build one that fixes them.

Your drives stay yours

The big mileage apps were built around their own servers, with an account that keeps a copy of everywhere you’ve driven. Today an iPhone can do the whole job itself, so Tenths does. Your drives stay on your phone, and in your private iCloud only if you turn on sync. There’s no account, and nothing reaches me. If your phone can do the work, your drives should be yours alone.

How the tax pages are written

The rates and rules on this site link to their sources, mostly the IRS’s own publications, and each tax page shows when it was last updated. It’s general information, not tax advice. If you spot a mistake, email hello@tenthsapp.com and I’ll fix it.
